Two goals in four second-half minutes earned Turkey a win over 10-man Hungary to greatly improve their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2008.

After Zoltan Gera had been dismissed, Turkey made their advantage count and took a 2-0 lead through Gokhan Unal and Mehmet Aurelio before Halil Altintop wrapped up the win late on.

A fast-paced game was even until the sending-off, and Turkey had the game's first chance with Gokdeniz Karadeniz's powerful shot was held by goalkeeper Marton Fulop.

Soon after a great ball in from left found Tamas Priskin and his first touch took him past his marker but he scuffed wide.

There was some great one-touch passing but Hungary's best chance came from a long punted ball from the goalkeeper which was taken down and away from his marker by Tamas Hajnal, before squaring to Priskin who shot inches wide.

Just before half-time a chipped ball found Tuncay Sanli at the far post but the Middlesbrough forward blazed over.

Early in the second period a one-two between half-time substitute Emre and Unal saw the latter played in on goal but as he shot he caught Fulop, who required medical attention.

Another one-two played Gera in down the right but his goal-bound shot from an angle was well blocked by Hakan Arikan.

The pair locked horns again 10 minutes later in a similar move but although Arikan appeared to catch Gera's legs, the West Brom midfielder - booked for an earlier foul - was deemed to have dived and shown a second yellow.

Turkey took immediate advantage. Emre's ball into the channel found Gokdeniz Karadeniz, who chipped the ball back to the far post where Unal rose unchallenged to head in.

Hamit Altintop's corner from the right found Emre, who swung his boot through a long-range shot which was blocked and taken down by Aurelio in behind the defence, and he swept the ball home.

The result flattered Turkey, but they made the most of their chances and rounded off the rout deep in injury time, Halil Altintop hitting an impressive shot into the corner of the net from 12 yards.
